I tend to rant on a bunch of my blogs and this one is no exception.

The Warm weather is here, and we’re enjoying it! We had a great long weekend and the heat continues even if the sun is hiding at the moment. For anyone who hasn’t seen the station, the top floor is where our studios are, we’re in a big goldfish bowl and I can see pretty much everything going on on the corner of Union and Waterloo. I could tell you stories because everyone knows how wild Uptown can be :P. Well I was a witness today to something that kind of erks me when I see it. I know in elementary school we, the one I went to anyway, there was a bike safety course we took, I think I was in grade 3 or something. Anyway, it taught us the basic rules of the road. Now lets be honest when you’re a kid, your parents are going to make you use the sidewalk, which is good, because who would actually look at a kid on a bike as a vehicle on the road? Once in a while I see an adult using the road on their bike, again this is cool BUT if you’re using the road on your bike shouldn’t you have to follow the rules of the road? What I saw was some one on a motorized bike. It wasn’t like heavy duty enough for me to call it a motor bike, it was a little bigger than a regular bike, and while it wasn’t going as fast as a car this thing totally had a motor. He was following along in traffic just like the car in front of him, but when he hit the lights at the corner, he hit a red. I knew when I was 3 a red light means stop. Well I’m ranting so I’m sure you know he didn’t. He instead went closer to the sidewalk and squeezed past the cars in front of him to continue on his journey. I personally think, if you’re riding your bike and you’re using the sidewalk (I think this was a little too heavy duty for the sidewalk) You follow the same rules as a pedestrian , if you’re on the road, you follow the rules are car would follow. You can’t mix it up to your convenience. Your thoughts?

Blogs; what's better quality or quantity? You be the judge

Are you I planner? I so am. I think it was February when I started planning things I wanted to do this summer. I am constantly excited for an upcoming event. It doesn’t even have to be a big event, or event something I’m looking forward to doing, but I will enjoy the end result. I’m off next week so this week, I’m having a field day planning. And I guess I’m an adult now because my plans are cleaning, organizing and making my apartment more functional…see that’s where I’m pumped for the end result. I love my job so I’ll likely miss my show and my listeners if I don’t stay insanely busy, so let’s make it productive.

Now as I mentioned earlier I am a longer distance planner too. Like February, yeah I was planning for camping, I actually got camping gear with a Christmas Gift card (Thanks Uncle Bill). Now I’m making plans to make pickles and stuff in the fall, and I’ve even mentioned…dare I say it stuff for Christmas. My friends who are reading this now are rolling their eyes. Last years planning included going to the Saint John Santa Claus parade, and then going back to our place for “adult drinks” and Hot Chocolate, which yes I burnt the first pot (Don’t even ask because you don’t want to know, PS Justin, I know you were trying to make me feel better saying “it’s not that bad, but yeah it really was”.

I think my planning might be a little drastic. Do you have your Summer all planned? I have as much planning in advance as possible I think.

I want to get outside a lot this summer. I think my first camping trip of the summer will be down at New River, the weekend of the Sand Sculpture comp. Last year was my first year and it was awesome. I am really pumped for Steph this year because it’s her first time. I also know one is set in stone for the weekend after my birthday, I share a birthday with my friend Justin and we’re having a joint Birthday weekend. I will be camping more than that too, there are three other trips being cultivated. There will be plenty of hiking and swimming too. Summer 2010, Here I come!

WHOA!

Hmm not as big of a gap.

Well it’s a Monday, and I’m having a better day than last Monday. I dunno last Monday was just a REAL MONDAY! I had a fantastic weekend. If you’re looking for a big party story you’ve come to the wrong blog. Nope my weekend involved a lot of sleeping, drinking coffee, reading, googling, cooking, watching movies in PJ’s and writing, and that was a great weekend for me. A crazy busy weekend that requires recovery? Yup I have em but I love low key weekends too, and they’re few and far between. Unfortunately if you noticed, cleaning was not on that list, so yeah guess what I do have to do during the week…:S. I did spend the majority of it with my FiancĂ© so there was good company.

My reading was a book that was actually dedicated to Oprah, so yeah if you know me that is extremely out of character, I don’t want to say I’m and anti Oprah, but I’m not major fan. Thus far it’s a pretty good read. I have put my paranormal romance on hold for now. On down time I do like being crafty, so I was checking out blogs this weekend finding stuff I’d like to try, perfect timing too, I’m on Vacation next week. Yup I have a week off, perhaps there will be a blog or two mostly because I’ll start missing my listeners and see it as a way for me to attempt staying connected. I visit to the old stomping grounds is in order, and I think I might do a major clean of the pad too (if I feel the drive, if not it will be a basic one). Other than that I figure it will be hobbies consuming my time. My other half will be working so I’ll likely be a solo act. Hoping for some nice weather so I can hit up rockwood park.

I know this blog is riveting right? See this is what happens when you don’t get large gaps! You notice my obscurity. One day you can catch me blaring some rock music and playing air guitar, the next? I’m knitting (I’ve actually only ever completed one knitting project but you get the idea). Another day I’m “shopping my closet” the next, planning my next hike. I’m all over the map, but I like being that way. I think I’d get bored otherwise.

Yeah okay I suck!

Since I’ve been told I suck at blogs I felt the need to post one. It was cleared up for me, I don’t so much suck when I post them I just don’t keep them current. I don’t know I just haven’t had anything pop up at me in the last while saying YES THAT LET’S BLOG ABOUT THAT. That or I could fess up and call myself a total slacker.

Hmmmm Blog Topics…Okay well this is the BIG THING in my life lately. I got engaged to my bf of four years, on our 4 year anniversary. So yeah pretty pumped about that. I wasn’t one of those girls who played wedding or had her wedding day planned. Nope I was playing with Spiderman action figures. Yeah true story. So this planning process has been from scratch. So yeah if you car what’s happenin in my life that’s most of it. That and I got new nail clippers for my guinea pigs. Exciting I know right?

I don’t know how many of you remember my blog from January when I was all pumped that I’d lost 10lbs, but I’ve now lost 20. I don’t actually want to lose anymore because I’m happy where I am now. I’d love to tell you the reason I set out to lose weight is because I wanted to be healthy, and if it’s true or not who’s going to believe me?I was in the margin that was considered “over weight” I’m not anymore, and I am at what I’ve come to learn is called the “happy weight” I read an article about a woman who was getting married (yeah I read a lot of those lately) and she was eating healthy and stuff which is great but she never let herself have her little indulgences, and I’m sorry for me I loves my extra butter popcorn with dill pickle flavor. In a nutshell the woman decided she could never enjoy those I guess no-no foods, or eat healthy most of the time and then every now and then grab some cocktails with the girls, or have that piece of cheesecake. Basically that was my goal, be healthier but not alter my entire life. Mission accomplished. Apparently right on time too, I mean how many brides want to drop a few pounds?
