A Positive Change

So by now we've all seen the suicides in the media, brought on by bullying. Most celebrities are making "It gets better" videos and posting them as a source of comfort for these kids. I personally think it's fantastic. The videos, the suicides are horrific, and my heart goes out to the families left behind. When tragedies like these happen, it's hard to see a silver lining, but even in these dark circumstances there are some. Before I get into the thing that inspired this blog I'd like to mention something related to these stories that is a victory in the fight against suicide. I guess T.I was in Atlanta, when he got wind of a potential "jumper". T.I decided he wanted to go to the scene and talk to this person. The person who was ready to kill himself, came down because T.I wanted to talk to them. He saved their life. And when you think about it, that's all people want, is to know they matter, and that some one cares. Well Done T.I. Now what actually prompted this blog is Perez Hilton. This string of suicides has been something he's felt strongly about, and he's been pushing, anti bullying. He's had to look himself in the mirror, and realize, it's time to practice what you preach. He's come to the realization that he, himself, is a a bully, and are teaching people who visit his site to be a bully. Last night the final post on Perezhilton.com was this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glRZpHuGj6Q&feature=player_embedded#!

In a nutshell he's owning up to what he's done in the past and looking to be better in the future. Believe him or not, it's up to you, I know I've recently seen a difference in his reports. What this video did (and the appearance on Ellen)have done to me is make me look at myself...could I be a kinder person? Probably, I think most people could really. But if Perez comes through or not, at this point it doesn't matter to me. I don't think I'm an awful person, but it's pushed me to want to be BETTER. I remember growing up, I'd hear people say "I've done my good deed for the day"...like you were supposed to do one everyday, and as a child, I tried to do one a day, these days, no one seems to have that mentality it seems. So I think I'd like to get back to that child like state, where I try and do something to brighten some one else's day. If you've taken the time to read this, maybe it's something you'll think about too. :)

Friends with kids...

For starters I want to thank Jane for posting this
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000717438391&success=1#!/photo.php?fbid=162617177088360&set=a.162617007088377.43688.150180158332062

Hopefully that link worked. In a nutshell it was a like ask the editor, this woman, who had no kids was asking why it was that her friend never had time for her. Anyway some one commented on Jane's post that people without kids have no clue...whoa whoa whoa! If you're a real friend and you've spent time with these kids, yeah I think we may have a clue. We don't get what goes on every day, but a REAL friend gets it, you're occupied 24/7. BOTH or my closest friends I grew up with have kids. We all live in different places in the Maritimes. One lives back in our hometown, I only get to talk to her once a month maybe, she doesn't even hit up FB! I get it, she can't drop everything like she could when we were 14, in fact there have been times I've had her on the phone and been told "Nancy I gotta go, Aerianna just figured out how to get her diaper off"...yeah that was a fun night I bet. The other lives in Oromucto (neat how that worked out) so yeah I get a chance to see her and talk to her more often (they moved the computer out to the living room so she can watch him and fb at the same time). I've spent time with them, son included, really as her friend, meeting her husband and child, the two most important people in her life, kind of matters. While I ADORE Vance, a day with him, I'm tired so I can only imagine what Melissa is feeling...If I'm sick or over tired, I can call in sick to my job...Melissa doesn't get sick days...neither does Lisa. I'm not in the situation where I live it, but I am a good enough friend to understand why Melissa has delayed responses on FB, or why Lisa isn't calling me daily. Life changes, mine has too, and we've all adapted so we can stay in each other's lives. The problem with that story isn't the one with the kids, she's doing the best she can, the problem is the one who doesn't have kids, she needs to make an effort too...

Rachel Ray Meets Martha Stewart...all tastes good to me

I had a weekend this past weekend. Enjoyed it SO much. Saturday got together with a friend of mine, Ally, who I hadn't gotten out with in a while, so that was a freakin blast. We grabbed coffee and did some shopping, hit up East point, we enjoy Christmas Discounters together and this was our first chance to go together this year (my third trip :P). After that I went home chucked together a roast beef dinner and had some of our friends over. Then I hit up Canterbury for the live to air. If you're able to come to Canterbury on Saturday nights, you should SO come out, it's a total blast AND the music is awesome. IF you can't, then make sure you're tuned it, you'll get the music anyway! Sunday, I was pumped I bought comfy pants on my shopping trip, because I wore them all day and it was awesome! I took off the Rachel Ray hat and threw on the Martha Hat. Made Pickles, which had to happen one day. Pickles are my favorite food on the planet, I'm surprised it took me this long, first time ever. Also made a cake, which I can count on one hand how many times I've done that. The stuff was on sale so I went for it. I'm a solo act this coming weekend, I have a feeling those new pants will get a workout! I only changed for the first time this morning out of them :P. Well my weekend while eventful looks boring to most...W/E I need my damn coffee, I'm back to work :P

Hoping my audio clip loaded properly! For those of you who missed it a few months back Steph called Jay a Trekkie, and I came out as a Starwoid. The Audio clip is actually where I drew the line in the sand...

On that note, I guess Lucas is re releasing all the Star Wars movies AGAIN, in 3D. This is kind of epic for us Starwoids, but really? How many times will it be re released? Well we probably won't see a new batch for another 6-7 years, because I guess the plan is they'll start with Phantom Menace this year and then do them in order around the same time each year...So I likely won't shell out the cash for it for about 3 years...

Gone too far

So I've been surfing the web today, and a theme was coming to my attention. One I thought WHOA I definitely have a blog topic. Bullying. Do I sound like a bleeding hear here? I was bullied a little when I was growing up. I stood 3ft tall until grade 4...but bullying has evolved. I'll be waiting for you by the swings after school has changed to kids using weapons and it's gone too far. I definitely credit it to the culture they're being raised in, far more violent and volatile than even when I was in school,I graduated in 2004...

What triggered this? There were two stories actually. One was about an 11 year old boy. He joined the cheer leading team at school and was bullied, to the extent one of these kids broke his arm. who exactly is he hurting? Not to mention I would think a male cheerleader would be an asset for throws and flips. These kid didn't break his spirit, he's going to keep going, but really, why?

The other story actually had NOTHING to do with kids. I'm sure most of us know who Gordon Ramsay is. Well stories are surfacing that past contestants from Hell's Kitchen have committed suicide. I've seen the show and think most people would agree...he's a huge bully. His claim is this is how he was taught... does that make it right? The way he talks and treats people is disgusting. I don't frequent the show. Last I checked North America has laws against this stuff...and it's on TV for entertainment?

I don't expect my rant to change the world, or even change anything. I simply hope to open the eyes of one person...then it's accomplished something...

Plans from a mad Planner

Okay, so I get to come on here and talk about what's on my mind. I suppose I could start off with how very content I am with my summer. You know how you always make all these great plans for the summer and then when the fall comes, there's barely a dent in your list? Well I can't say my list was huge but I had an eventful and happy summer with some great friends. Looking forward, I hope to do the same with Fall and yes even Winter. I have hauled out a bunch of cook books and started planning my projects. Also need to get in my craft room, yes I have a craft room, and get it livable, I have a bunch of projects on the go already in there that kind of collected dust over the summer. Also have some plans for canning, and some other things. I've ALSO started my Christmas shopping...I feel like I should duck, I could get shot for that one. I have the Wishbook and I have gotten sooooo many ideas from there. I HATE being rushed in a crowd, so it is much better for me to have everything done nice and early. I'm a huge planner so I'm psyched out of my mind just posting all of this! Also started looking into tracking the big man in red again this year...we'll see how that works out. One more thing, one of my FAVE stores just opened it's doors again, today. Christmas Discounters is back at East Point. Got some things I'll be picking up soon lemme tell you.

Weekend Recap!

Look guys look!!! A NEW BLOG POST! YAY there wasn't a 2 month gap! SO it's Monday and feeling very mondayee. That's probably why I just downed a small bag of chips, and have one waiting in the wings. I read somewhere once, that when you're a little blue, that's when you crave a salty treats, figures I packed a kiwi with my lunch :P. It's a very Mondayee day, BUT I had a pretty good weekend, which contributes to the Monday Blues. Today is actually my friend's Birthday, Happy Birthday Josh! So on Saturday we went to our friend Amanda's house (Josh's GF) BTW Epic round of applause for Amanda she made the cake, AND had never made boiled frosting before and did it successfully...I think...I'd never had it before Saturday. Gotta tell you a little story, for my Fiance's birthday Amanda and Josh made him a t-shirt, so we stuck with the theme and made Josh one for his Birthday, have a look at both of the shirts at the top! So we stayed there for a bit BUT Saturday night was also my FIRST TIME going to Canterbury lounge. It was pretty Epic! I was the Robin to Dj Fire's Batman, and we had a LOT of fun. Jay also popped in on us so that was Tres awesome, he was playing the role of my big brother checkin up on me at my first live to air :). So going into it I was telling everyone to be there and man, you want to be there! REALLY nice club man, and this is coming from a girl who's first experiences with bars were the ones in Halifax...YEAH THAT nice! SO if you didn't get out there for any of the live to airs yet, DO IT! BUT do it early! I guess they're hitting capacity every Saturday! I believe it, it was pretty packed, and pretty awesome, make sure you get down some time soon, so much fun man! My Sunday was uneventful, but Saturday made up for it being jam packed :). I'd say this is a good length blog, more to come soon :)

EPIC FAIL!

Wow okay so I've been really bad for blogging and what's worse, procrastinating my return to it. Yeeeeaaah messed up logic. What kind of sucks is now I have to try and get you up to speed on what's new in my insane world. Summer has come and yeah gone, I'm reporting a risk of frost...Had a GREAT one though. Great camping trips with friends and co-workers, bon fires with some of my fave people in SJ, and just all around fun. Still looking at my tent sitting in my hallway (I was camping last weekend) So I suppose it's time to pack it all away in the closet for another year, the final hoorah camping trip has past. One of my awesome friends is celebrating a b-day next week so we're doing a little celebrating this weekend. ALSO I'll be doing my first Live to Air at Canterbury lounge, if you're able come hang out, would love to see you. I plan on doing canning for the first time ever this weekend! Pickles are my fave food on the planet so it seems right. Anyway really should be getting ready for tonight's countdown!

Internet Dangers

Okay so typically my blog is not overly serious, but I have an important topic today. You know how everyone talks about the dangers of online predators for kids? Well adults don't think for a second they're not there for you too. I have my facebook set up specifically for work, and just add everyone because I figure they're a listener. Well for those of you who have me on FB, you may have seen what was going on on my wall. I had a guy, I never met who was aggressively making advances towards me. I didn't want to be rude and tell him to step off, basically because I didn't want listeners to get the idea I'm a huge B!T@#, but it got to a point I had to tell him to back off. I started out nice, but as he ignored my rejections I had to get progressively less friendly. It was to the point he was asking me what would happen to his feelings when I got married, and he told me he was in love with me (never met this guy in my life). I got to the point that I blocked and deleted him from my FB (only person on my block list EVER). So for those of you who think that that would end the issue, well you're wrong. It would seem he has more than one account and is still on my friends list (a different name, similar pics, and he speaks the same way).NOT to mention he had a mutual friend on this account try and add me today (I would assume it's another of his, because again, similar pics). I don't want to delete a listener, that's the only reason this new guy isn't gone yet. I'm sharing this because if you see claws come out on my fb, I feel threatened by this person, and I also want to pass along this lesson to others. When you're online, be careful.

Productivity is up!

Weird title but true story. I've come to discover I am far more productive on weekdays. Weekends I want to do nothing! I REALLY have to push myself. I had a pretty big to do list this weekend as far as house cleaning and such went...didn't get it all done, but you know when I did like 50% of it? THIS MORNING! I accomplished more in the two and a half hours I allotted myself this morning than the 48 I had all weekend. I did one REALLY big job this weekend though. Trimming, bathing and nail clipping my guinea pigs. Sounds like it would be a quick job right? NOPE 4 hours! I have long haired pigs who HATE getting their hair cut, One likes baths, the other doesn't but I have to blow dry them too, and neither of them like nail trims. PS the shake like a dog when they're wet, so I wear old clothes when I bathe them. I did that and unpacked my PS2! YES PS2, IN YOUR FACE XBOX! Today though ON FREAKIN FIRE! I guess I'm in a routine during the week that allows me to be more productive, Weekend I'm all whatev! Hooray for productivity! Now, let me get back to work!

Dear Xbox....

YOU SUCK! Okay I get it, you are one of the "big game consols" right now and you have all the new games.BUT there are a couple gripes I have with you! For starters, WHO makes a game system that BIG? Original nintendo was smaller. I heard there is a new version out, You're noisy! If I accidentally turn you on, I can't hear anything else in the room! I have a high tolerance, I grew up in a house of gamers, but Xbox, you're lame. What is the deal with different sized hard drives? And finally, Xbox the red rings of death? REALLY? Instead of giving it a name, FIX THE DAMN PROBLEM!

If you couldn't tell, the red rings came for a visit to my house today. I would seriously Boycott the problem where the Xbox mine. It's a lot of money to shell out for a product that lasted only 2 years. I purchased it, so yeah I know. Xbox, I strongly dislike you. I have to watch my other half suffer now, until I have the misfortune of you darkening my doorstep again!

My View on the View

Okay here come my claws. I NEVER watch the View. I used to catch it from time to time BUT I can't STAND Elisabeth Hassleback. For me the breaking point was when she drove Rosie off the show. I saw some of the horrific verbal attacks on Rosie, and considering what her job is, there is just no need for those jabs. I think it's okay to disagree with some one, it's okay to passionately disagree with some one, but personal attacks are not cool period, especially to a co-worker.

One thing I really wish Rosie had done was stand her ground (I'm stubborn so odds are I would still be there). I look at it from the animal kingdom point of view, backing down Rosie just let Elisabeth be the alpha dog. Rosie had her own show at one point remember? She came with a level of professionalism in that environment. Elisabeth came from Survivor...reality TV...need I say more?

I know I'm talking about old news, but I am getting to my point, I promise. I don't typically watch the show, because that situation has left a bad taste in my mouth and while the show used to be about the point of view that a few different woman took on a certain topic, now it seems to be the other woman try and summarize what it is they want to say because Elisabeth will be belting out her opinion until the next commercial break.

I spotted a clip online today of the show and well she lived true to what she typically does. She FREAKED on the comments that Kathy Griffin made about some American Politician's daughters being prostitutes (sorry, not up that much on American Politics, doesn't really concern me too much). Elisabeth SCREAMED over the other women when they tried to talk. Do I agree with Kathy? I really can't have an opinion, I don't know who this guy or his kids are. Kathy said it on HER show though, and Whoopie was right when she said that as a comedian they push it some times, and yeah Kathy PUSHES it. Elisabeth kept saying how Kathy was likely loving the attention. Uh yeah, so if you dislike her enough to call her "scum" why are you giving her the attention, and press? Anyway I suppose that's my rant on the state of the view these days, maybe I'll watch again in another 5 years.

Back From Vacay!

Yup I'm back, you've been warned. Only one coffee into me at this point, promise to have another before show time :). Regardless of the on air banter I want to give a HUGE thanks to Mariel for taking care of my show while I was gone. She made it soooo easy for me to slip back into my routine, I didn't have to take care of any messes as I walked in the door :D. Mare Bear (everyone feel free to start calling her this), glad we're working together again...well actually I can count on one hand how many times we've been together, but we're playing for the same team again :P. Kind of disappointing, I had an awesome pic of the two of us to insert here and it's not working :P.

What did I do on Vacation? A LOT of unpacking, and organizing, also on my personal blog (link possibly coming soon). I went back to NS and got my engagement pics done for those of you who saw on FB. I had a couple coffee stops with my dad, who btw is one of my fave people ever. Got to hang out with my Uncle who is just like a possum...awesome! My brother and his lady (My Maid of Honor) were up the fist couple days which was great, And My grandmother sent me home with as much food as she could convince me to take, and of course stuffed me full when I was there, We had corned beef and cabbage, oh yeah half of my family are Newfs...that makes it easier to understand.

I am back and ready to hit the air on K100...won't get to for another bit, but it's comin! Missed you peoples! I know I'll get a warm welcome back (because you've done it already, even when I'm sick for one day :P)

Big Brother thoughts...

Okay I only caught the last 20min last night but enough to form an opinion. I get it, every season they try and switch things up to keep Big Brother fresh, some are hits (the high school cliques, when the house mates had a connection to some one else in the house) And some are misses (like the couples one, that sucked SO bad), I fear this season may be a miss.

They were saying that there is a Saboteur this year. I thought it was going to be very much like "America's Player" and basically it's similar, but not on such a friendly level (Who didn't like Eric, really). The issue with the way they're playing it is like a horror movie. The lights go out, then a distorted voice booms over the monitor.I think a reality show has already done this, how many seasons did that last.

I say this every season and have been proven wrong ONCE! I don't think anyone this season could de throne my favortie house guest...I was wrong last year, saying no one could ever beat Dick in my eyes...enter stage right Russell. When I start watching each season I do it for the 5 min glimpse of a house guest from the past.

Here is hoping for another Big Brother Summer! And of course the long talks I have with our receptionist after each show...She still loves Jeff! ALSO, may have just brought Steph into it, it will be her first summer, look at Steph all grown up :P

No I won't let it happen again...except maybe next week

Yup it's no big secret that I'm not great (understatement) at posting on my blog. Can I make some excuses? TOTALLY! It's summer, and I've had 2 weeks off (and another next week, simply slips my mind, I'm really busy, I just moved so I was preoccupied...which is your favorite. I'd like to tell you I'm going to improve, but that would be just words, instead I'd rather just prove it, so lets see how that works. I also feel obligated to do this one too, because I just started a personal blog too, so while, I'm no mother, it would be bad to neglect the first born just because there's a new baby in the house. Once I see where the personal one goes, I might post it on here. It's a little less "Nancy, behind the scenes" and a little more "Nancy @ home". If you listen to k100 odds are there is a common ground here on this blog, it's our common thread. But my personal one, well may not be as interesting to you, simply because my personal interest may not be the same as yours...Unless you have an interest in the recipe for the Chicken Pot pie Potato bowls I ate the other night (uber yum), or want to see how the quilt I'm making is going (yup I own a sewing machine).

But lets talk about THIS blog, where I get sarcastic and opinionated, I like that I have 2 different outlets :P.

DUDE did you see Eclipse?! If you're sitting there saying, "No Nancy, you didn't give me any tickets to the pre screening", I'll ask you to recall, I wasn't there either, the Hot 7@7 was hosted by yours truly! That's when the movie started. I did see it though. I've been asked in the past, am I team Edward or team Jacob? The answer is I'm team Edward, BUT I'm Team Taylor (humina humina). This movie, just solidified my preference for Edward, but that might be the maturity level. I was a little disappointed with the fight scene, I expected it to be FAR more epic. Instead they were trying to drive home the birth of the Cullen's & Werewolves alliance. So guys, if your girlfriend is trying to sell you on this movie with the fight scene? No dice, sorry Ladies. None the less a good movie, but not my favorite thus far of the summer.

THAT title is held by the A-team. It might have something to do with the personal nostalgia for me, but I think they did a great job on the movie. I was actually there opening weekend for this one, and was surprised that the theater hadn't sold out a single show yet. BUT it was also competing against a movie that had it's own nostalgia, Karate Kid. Still haven't seen it, I plan to, and then I'm sure I'll have an opinion. A-Team TV show fans, if you were debating seeing this in theaters or waiting for DVD (I do this with a lot of movies, you should seeee my DVD collection), I think it's worth the movie ticket IF you go in with the right mind set. Remember, remakes and adaptations can never be exactly like the original, and this TV show was out in 1985, do you think the series could survive in this day and age? Likely not, this movie, would have the staying power. If you're looking for Cameo's they're there. The Original Hannibal is no longer with us but BOTH Face and Murdock appear (stay for the credits). No BA though, Mr. T didn't like the new Direction the movie took, he preferred the light hearted days where the show was never truly over until a car flipped. The lighter undertone was still there, I felt it anyway, but they did beef it up.

Okay well coming into this blog my goal was to complete one, I had NO sweet clue what I was going to talk about BUT I think I recovered from it pretty well. Like I said I'm on vacation next week so if there is a blog, I should get a cookie! I'll be headed to the hometown of Cole Harbour to see my papa bear, brother, and the rest of that crazy fam o mine. So Until next time :)

I tend to rant on a bunch of my blogs and this one is no exception.

The Warm weather is here, and we’re enjoying it! We had a great long weekend and the heat continues even if the sun is hiding at the moment. For anyone who hasn’t seen the station, the top floor is where our studios are, we’re in a big goldfish bowl and I can see pretty much everything going on on the corner of Union and Waterloo. I could tell you stories because everyone knows how wild Uptown can be :P. Well I was a witness today to something that kind of erks me when I see it. I know in elementary school we, the one I went to anyway, there was a bike safety course we took, I think I was in grade 3 or something. Anyway, it taught us the basic rules of the road. Now lets be honest when you’re a kid, your parents are going to make you use the sidewalk, which is good, because who would actually look at a kid on a bike as a vehicle on the road? Once in a while I see an adult using the road on their bike, again this is cool BUT if you’re using the road on your bike shouldn’t you have to follow the rules of the road? What I saw was some one on a motorized bike. It wasn’t like heavy duty enough for me to call it a motor bike, it was a little bigger than a regular bike, and while it wasn’t going as fast as a car this thing totally had a motor. He was following along in traffic just like the car in front of him, but when he hit the lights at the corner, he hit a red. I knew when I was 3 a red light means stop. Well I’m ranting so I’m sure you know he didn’t. He instead went closer to the sidewalk and squeezed past the cars in front of him to continue on his journey. I personally think, if you’re riding your bike and you’re using the sidewalk (I think this was a little too heavy duty for the sidewalk) You follow the same rules as a pedestrian , if you’re on the road, you follow the rules are car would follow. You can’t mix it up to your convenience. Your thoughts?

Blogs; what's better quality or quantity? You be the judge

Are you I planner? I so am. I think it was February when I started planning things I wanted to do this summer. I am constantly excited for an upcoming event. It doesn’t even have to be a big event, or event something I’m looking forward to doing, but I will enjoy the end result. I’m off next week so this week, I’m having a field day planning. And I guess I’m an adult now because my plans are cleaning, organizing and making my apartment more functional…see that’s where I’m pumped for the end result. I love my job so I’ll likely miss my show and my listeners if I don’t stay insanely busy, so let’s make it productive.

Now as I mentioned earlier I am a longer distance planner too. Like February, yeah I was planning for camping, I actually got camping gear with a Christmas Gift card (Thanks Uncle Bill). Now I’m making plans to make pickles and stuff in the fall, and I’ve even mentioned…dare I say it stuff for Christmas. My friends who are reading this now are rolling their eyes. Last years planning included going to the Saint John Santa Claus parade, and then going back to our place for “adult drinks” and Hot Chocolate, which yes I burnt the first pot (Don’t even ask because you don’t want to know, PS Justin, I know you were trying to make me feel better saying “it’s not that bad, but yeah it really was”.

I think my planning might be a little drastic. Do you have your Summer all planned? I have as much planning in advance as possible I think.

I want to get outside a lot this summer. I think my first camping trip of the summer will be down at New River, the weekend of the Sand Sculpture comp. Last year was my first year and it was awesome. I am really pumped for Steph this year because it’s her first time. I also know one is set in stone for the weekend after my birthday, I share a birthday with my friend Justin and we’re having a joint Birthday weekend. I will be camping more than that too, there are three other trips being cultivated. There will be plenty of hiking and swimming too. Summer 2010, Here I come!

WHOA!

Hmm not as big of a gap.

Well it’s a Monday, and I’m having a better day than last Monday. I dunno last Monday was just a REAL MONDAY! I had a fantastic weekend. If you’re looking for a big party story you’ve come to the wrong blog. Nope my weekend involved a lot of sleeping, drinking coffee, reading, googling, cooking, watching movies in PJ’s and writing, and that was a great weekend for me. A crazy busy weekend that requires recovery? Yup I have em but I love low key weekends too, and they’re few and far between. Unfortunately if you noticed, cleaning was not on that list, so yeah guess what I do have to do during the week…:S. I did spend the majority of it with my Fiancé so there was good company.

My reading was a book that was actually dedicated to Oprah, so yeah if you know me that is extremely out of character, I don’t want to say I’m and anti Oprah, but I’m not major fan. Thus far it’s a pretty good read. I have put my paranormal romance on hold for now. On down time I do like being crafty, so I was checking out blogs this weekend finding stuff I’d like to try, perfect timing too, I’m on Vacation next week. Yup I have a week off, perhaps there will be a blog or two mostly because I’ll start missing my listeners and see it as a way for me to attempt staying connected. I visit to the old stomping grounds is in order, and I think I might do a major clean of the pad too (if I feel the drive, if not it will be a basic one). Other than that I figure it will be hobbies consuming my time. My other half will be working so I’ll likely be a solo act. Hoping for some nice weather so I can hit up rockwood park.

I know this blog is riveting right? See this is what happens when you don’t get large gaps! You notice my obscurity. One day you can catch me blaring some rock music and playing air guitar, the next? I’m knitting (I’ve actually only ever completed one knitting project but you get the idea). Another day I’m “shopping my closet” the next, planning my next hike. I’m all over the map, but I like being that way. I think I’d get bored otherwise.

Yeah okay I suck!

Since I’ve been told I suck at blogs I felt the need to post one. It was cleared up for me, I don’t so much suck when I post them I just don’t keep them current. I don’t know I just haven’t had anything pop up at me in the last while saying YES THAT LET’S BLOG ABOUT THAT. That or I could fess up and call myself a total slacker.

Hmmmm Blog Topics…Okay well this is the BIG THING in my life lately. I got engaged to my bf of four years, on our 4 year anniversary. So yeah pretty pumped about that. I wasn’t one of those girls who played wedding or had her wedding day planned. Nope I was playing with Spiderman action figures. Yeah true story. So this planning process has been from scratch. So yeah if you car what’s happenin in my life that’s most of it. That and I got new nail clippers for my guinea pigs. Exciting I know right?

I don’t know how many of you remember my blog from January when I was all pumped that I’d lost 10lbs, but I’ve now lost 20. I don’t actually want to lose anymore because I’m happy where I am now. I’d love to tell you the reason I set out to lose weight is because I wanted to be healthy, and if it’s true or not who’s going to believe me?I was in the margin that was considered “over weight” I’m not anymore, and I am at what I’ve come to learn is called the “happy weight” I read an article about a woman who was getting married (yeah I read a lot of those lately) and she was eating healthy and stuff which is great but she never let herself have her little indulgences, and I’m sorry for me I loves my extra butter popcorn with dill pickle flavor. In a nutshell the woman decided she could never enjoy those I guess no-no foods, or eat healthy most of the time and then every now and then grab some cocktails with the girls, or have that piece of cheesecake. Basically that was my goal, be healthier but not alter my entire life. Mission accomplished. Apparently right on time too, I mean how many brides want to drop a few pounds?

The things I've seen...

So I thought this was an awesome topic to end my dry spell with my blogs. Being on the time I am, and with things like the hot 7@7 and the Requesta Fiesta, I have a lot of kids who listen to me and add me on fb. So I guess that's why issues that concern them are starting to concern me. The topic I'm on tonight is Bullying. I was a kid who dealt with it. I was like 3ft tall when I started school and I didn't hit 5ft until grade 8 so yeah that painted a target on my back. That being said I think it toughened me up a lot. I'm 5'3 now, weigh about 120, but I stand with no fear. So I'll be honest almost every time I saw or heard about Bullying being such a huge issue, I kind of rolled my eyes and thought to myself, they're turning kids into wimps. Well after the teen in Ohio who committed suicide due to the level of bullying she was putting up with I thought okay isolated incident. It didn't actually strike me as a major issue until it hit close to home. A friend of mine has a daughter who is I'd guess anywhere from 12-14 years old, has me on facebook. She came to me about about a girl who was driving her nuts on fb, so I went and had a look. It was HORRENDOUS. The anger, violence and hatred this girl posted on her wall. I couldn't get over it. This has changed my mind completely, bullying is a severely overlooked issue. No child should have to put up with this, no PERSON should have to. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place now, because in all honesty, I guess I'm okay for talking to to sort out the ideas, but kids if you're putting up with this, DON'T. Talk to your parents, your teachers, whatever. NO ONE has the right to mistreat you, or harass you. There are lots of things that can be done to end the constant torture, and I urge you to talk to some one, protect yourself and anyone else that this person is doing it to. I don't know why they do it by they don't have a right to.

Really behind, quick update....

Well if you're actually reading this you might actually care about what is going on with me, if you're really not that interested it's cool for you to bail now, I'll never know :P. What's new with me? Well I haven't actually blogged in a while so there are a few things.

Right now I'm actually sick, if you've tuned in to me this evening, you might find my voice is deeper than usual. What sucks is it's my first cold of the season, but I'm following everything I said in my previous blog except the rest part, really don't have a choice I'm at work :P.

You guys have been fantastic with the Requesta Fiesta, it's to a level I never dreamed of when we first started it in August. And that is all you guys so thanks very much. I'm also really excited about where we are with the Hot 7 @ 7, and on that note, I'd like to remind you, it's not MY countdown. It's YOUR countdown, so let me know what song you wanna hear @ #1. Basically when I put the countdown together, I take into consideration the songs you request during the requesta fiesta, so yeah when you request a song, you give that song an added boost. For a hyper boost though, VOTE. via FB you can vote at any time. you can do it on the k100 group, or if you even wanted find me in the admins and message me, totally fine. Also remember between 4&6 I'm looking for your votes and in that time frame you can call 658-5000 yo!

Also I've been having a blast with you guys on fb. A bunch of listeners have added me to fb and we have a blast talking via fb during my show. I love it, it reminds me you guys are listening, and I also don't feel as lonely as I could when I'm here @ the station so late :(.

Hmmm what else? oh yeah one little thing, I'M ENGAGED! LOL yup, Friday morning I celebrated my 4 year anniversary with my bf, who I met in college, and he proposed by Lily Lake :). Really beyond excited. I know how lucky I am to have such a fantastic, supportive, caring, and every other positive adjective I an think of, guy in my life and ready to share the rest of our lives. Since Friday that's been the BIG thing in my life, got some stuff together for the wedding but not a lot.

Thank You Feldman

So by now I think everyone on the planet has heard about the tragic lose of Corey Haim. I did my blog on that yesterday, but I waited until Corey Feldman's words on the death of his best friend were heard. You could be thinking Nancy why did you wait? So many celebrities were commenting, some that are more "relevant" in their industries these days. In these days? Perhaps. This situation? In no way shape or form. Anyone who was a Haim Fan, had to at least LIKE Feldman, the two of them were beyond close. It's Michael Jackson syndrome. The world made jokes at his expense, talked about how sick he was, but as soon as he died, he became a legend! People had forgotten about Haim, and when they talked about him they talked about his struggle with drugs, or made fun of the add he put out a couple years ago to get back out there as an actor. Now he's dead and those same people are "so sad" and "mourning a great lose". ANYWAY, I'd like to point out that closer to the end of the blog I said that he's now getting the publicity he hungered for when he was alive (not a direct quote, but it was along those lines). Apparently Feldman agrees with me. He was on Larry King Live and said this:

"At the end of the day, Larry, where were all these people the last 10 years, the last 15 years of Corey's life? Where were all these people to lend a hand out, to reach out to him and say, you know, you're a legend, you're – you're an amazingly talented, wonderful person who's really never gone out of his way to hurt anybody other than himself? You see these people making great statements and that's wonderful and I hope they're all there for the memorial and I hope they're all there for the funeral. But where were they during his life?"

One more thing, one of those people who made fun of Haim for the ad, is now "so sad" commented on the interview saying Feldman should hold off on the interviews and mourn for his friend in Private. Why, because he called you out?

Aren't we past this yet?!

Be warned the following topic is one I have strong feelings on, and I will do my best to avoid strong language.

First I'll give you a little background info on me and this topic. When I was in High School, my school had a Gay/Straight Alliance, and in my grade 12 year, I was Vice President. Before you ask, no I'm not Gay, I'm days away from celebrating my 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend. I do however have a handful of people I know who are gay, and 2 that have been very important to me, still are important to me, and always will be important to me, and actually have had a hand in shaping me into the young woman I am today. Also as I grew up my father instilled many values in my growth, one was that no one is better than anyone else, no person is more important, and we're all equal. Sincerely glad my father did this, because society sure as hell didn't.

When I was in High School a gay friend of mine, if I remember correctly had to ask special permission to bring his bf with him to prom. I think this was a year or two after the whole Marc Hall thing, so obviously a High School that was getting enough bad press as it was wanted to avoid a huge scene like that. While I'm glad to say my High School did give him permission, I personally don't feel like he should have needed to ask for it but I digress.

What Brought this blog on? I was doing my typical daily sweep of the internet pre show, when I came across a story that turned my stomach. A School in Northern Mississippi has apparently canceled their prom, basically because a lesbian student wanted to take her gf to prom. This High School apparently sent out the criteria for students to attend the dance, one was that each student MUST bring a date of the opposite sex. The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi heard about this, and said they had to change their policy. This resulted in the School Board canceling the prom all together.

So this young girls rights were violated, and no her prom was taken away. You can't tell me this hasn't made for her taking some heat from her fellow students who just lost their prom, and it's not her fault, it's the narrow-minded school board.

As I mentioned, this is a school in the states. VERY proud to be a Canadian today, Canada still has a long way to go, but we're more evolved than the states as far as this topic is concerned.

Bloggin Dry spell ends due to Tragedy

Okay, Okay I've been slack in my blogging. In my defense I have had nothing to say, And me talking when I have nothing to say...it's just scary. The thing that has brought me back to my blogging, I wish had never happened. I have something to talk about because of the tragic death of Corey Haim. Not sure I'm supposed to know who he is because one of his biggest movies came out the year after I was born, but I can honestly say I am/was a fan or Corey. If you ever watched the TV show "The two Corey's" on A&E, you learned of some of his demons. Corey Haim was another Casualty of teen stardom. He came out more publicly with his drug addiction in the last few years, and truly wished to get back into acting. Most of what I'm going by is from the TV show, but none the less, when I watched him try and try and always, I don't want to say fail, because that doesn't seem like the right word, but get discouraged, I felt sorry for the guy. There was a lot of things in his past that haunted him, some that he had no control over and others he was just exposed to far too young. Well today as I typically do, when I got into the station I looked online for what's up with celebrities, and I was greeted by this. I was sad, but not shocked. Corey Feldman's public statement was released about 40min ago. I've seen the "tweets" from celebrities posted in a lot of forums, but really the Feldman statement was what I was waiting for, these two were best friends and pretty much brothers, sharing in similar ups and downs through their teen star days. Seems like Corey Haim is everywhere today, getting the publicity he was so hungry for when he was alive...Rest in Peace Corey Haim.

Another Movie night last night this time it was a new movie

Okay so Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief. Yup I saw it last night. I wanted to see this movie because they say if you liked Harry Potter, you'll like this too. So Maybe 20min into the movie, I'm sitting there thinking, I think I might have seen this movie before...yeah I had, the Harry Potter movies. It wasn't long after I actually cried out "Second Harry Potter Book"! Then the rest of the movie, I basically called what was gonna happen...before it did. And I wad dead on. I liked the movie, I'll be honest...but I liked it the first time I saw them too.

Watched an 80's Classic Last Night!

Does this seem like an overly interesting topic, well to me. I was going to put how I felt about the movie in my status on facebook, but I ran out of room and just made it short and sweet. But I'm bursting to talk about it, thus why I take to the Blog. Okay so this was and 80's classic movie and I typically love 80's movies, like I own Breakfast Club, Fast times at Ridgemont high, and Pretty in Pink. So It was high time I finally saw Lost Boys. Some HUGE names in that, either in general or of the day. I liked the movie, the Corey's weren't great. Haim I could stomach, Feldman, who I usually prefer, I continued to roll my eyes at him, so for him I'll still go to Goonies, or Ninja Turtles. I have no idea what the actor's name is but the one who played Bill in the Bill and Ted Movies (The one who wasn't Keanu Reeves) I was happy to see he did something other than Bill and Ted, though I love Bill and Ted. And he also kinda played the Lame giggly Vampire...but w/e. Kiefer! He's a good villain he looks like he could seriously do some damage to you, and he'd already pulled this off well in Stand By me anyway. The One who played Michael, I know him from somewhere, still can't place him, but of all of the Vampires in the move, the hottest one by far...but sorry kids not a movie for the people who fall in love with Vampires...they'd eat you plain and simple. The Mom? I love her as an actress but she's seriously been type casted, it's the same character she played in Footloose. The Girl not quite Vampire, I've only seen her in one other thing, still standing, but I'm told she was in Ally McBeil... Anyway I'm not Ebert or anything, but yeah I saw it I dug it and am looking for the next mandatory movie, and hopefully I can find it on Youtube too :P

GIRLS STOP FIGHTING OVER BOYS!!!

Okay tonight during the requesta fiesta I felt like I was playing Jerry Springer. I had 3 young teens calling in and requesting songs but telling me about a drama that is going on in their lives. I'm not going to go into details, but what it all came down to is 2 girls fighting over boys. Now I'm not sure either of the boys knew what was going on in this, and there were 2 involved, but I only heard from one and I seriously think he was innocent and just got dragged into a bad situation. GIRLS, STOP FIGHTING OVER BOYS IT'S NOT WORTH IT! I hope I'm still cool enough that I can share a story and not sound all "lame like a parent" (sorry parents but I don't need to tell you, they don't listen to you). 2 of my best friends when I was in Jr High were my friends Lisa, and Melissa. This story has NOTHING to do with Lisa just getting her her shout out :P.
Nope this story is about Melissa. When we were younger we liked a bunch of the same guys. Most of the time they'd like Melissa and not me. So I've step aside, Melissa would date them, break up with them and the cycle would continue. I can think of one time that a boy chose me and it still seemed to backfire, but anyway. Melissa backed off at that time. Now like I said this was all back in the day so where are all of these guys now? I couldn't tell you. Where is Melissa? She lives in Oromucto, with her husband and son. And guess who was maid of honor at her wedding. The moral of the story is FRIENDS FIRST ladies

More Grossed out Than Quagmire when he saw Peter's mom at that singles gathering...

Random title? Agreed, but it got your attention. Okay so I'm not anti second hand stores. As a matter of fact they're some of my favorite stores, where else can you go and get jeans that are typically $100 for $6? Yeah I like those stores, but there are some more personal items that I won't buy there because I prefer them to not just be "new to you" but NEW PERIOD! On that note I discovered a story today that would suggest some people may be buying presumably new items that turn out to be "new to you", but they're paying the full price. Now this was American so I don't know how much it effects us but I feel like I'd like to share the story none the less. Good Morning America has a segment on right now called Secret filth exposed .Well I have caught one edition of this and was pretty grossed out by it. I won't name company names but some companies that sell personal items of clothing are not only taking returns on products with hygienic guards removed, but they're promptly re-tagged and put back on the sales floor...Alright you might be sitting there thinking, okay well any idiot can tell if something like that is worn, I would think that too, but they actually interviewed some one who worked for 3 different locations of one of the stores under the microscope and yeah apparently they were aware. She claimed that when a product was returned with an Oder they'd hang it up over night to air it out then return it to the sales floor...EEEEEEEWWWW! It gets worse. Good Morning America actually did and experiment where they purchased products, and stained them with baby oil. So these products are not only stripped of things to guard from Germs BUT clearly stained. They STILL found them back on the sales floor. In a time where protecting yourself from STI's and STD's is such a high priority, how is some one to protect themselves when they're unaware of a danger, I mean seriously when you buy "Brand NEW" clothes do you expect some one else to have slathered their germs all over it? As I said before this is an AMERICAN Report. I'm not aware of anywhere that would let you return personal items for ANY reason. I actually worked in a clothing store a couple of years ago, it carried higher end clothing, and I remember having an incident where some one tried to return a bikini. I was on the management team so when this woman started ranting and raving, I was called into action. She'd paid $80, which I'll agree, that's a lot of money, but it was against policy to return it. I have a stubborn streak, so she could've argued with me until she passed out, there was NO WAY she was returning that product. After she left I had a CUSTOMER come up to me and tell me she didn't know of any business that would've taken it, and if we had, she would've stopped shopping with us. So I can shop with confidence at one place of business for sure. I sincerely think that everywhere I shop has enough integrity to do the same, but one thing is sure, I'll be looking a little closer when I'm buying personal items from now on, and doing a little more research on the companies, and the companies affiliated with the ones caught red handed.

Round 2 Lily VS Courtney...and I'm already sick of it!

Okay so if you missed my blog on Friday there was an interesting rant on the recent feud between Lily Allen and Courtney Love. The total lack of maturity on Lily's part astounded me. Seriously Preschool antics. Well I expected no...sorry I just got distracted by some one driving down the wrong side of the road here on Union. I would expect no less from Courtney, she took to her Twitter and went on and on and on....and on about how she felt sorry for Lily and how it was sad she didn't feel relevant. She also said at one point, okay I'm done...however like 11 more tweets came up bashing Lily...Most of which I couldn't make heads or tales of simply because it was a REALLY bad job of typing. There were some errors that were like a misplaced letters like if put lcearly you'd know what I mean right? But some were just like...did she pass out on the keyboard? Anyway at the end of it all there was a tweet from Lily Allen, basically apologizing to Courtney. So now I guess the big question is is Courtney gonna back off or publicly laugh at her because she sure can talk smack but apparently backs down when some one says stuff to her...

The Second Christmas for Canada!

Yup it's back Rrroll up the Rrrim! seriously one of my favorite times of year. Last year was my worst year ever! I got to like 22 without a win. This year? comin out of the Gate..BOOYA! I'm drinking #2 right now, and guess what...I won it. Best I've ever won was a tims card, but seriously how pumped do we get for a coffee?

Thinkin I might get some people mad on this one, but I need to vent...

I think I've mentioned before, either here on my Blog OR on-air. The high profile celebrity gossip? The stuff that has a new update like daily? I find it gets old fast and if I'm sick of it, and it's my job, you the listener are likely sick of it too, so I stop reporting on it unless something BIG pops up. Well the Gosslins, I'm not sure I've mentioned them on air in a loooong time. I was a regular watcher of Jon and Kate Plus 8, until it imploded on itself. Once Kate and Jon couldn't speak to each other without a lawyer I was out. I guess that I'm weird because didn't ratings go nuts after that? The last episode I watched was the sextuplets 5th birthday, and I was okay watching it until one of the girls walked up to Jon and said "Daddy I don't like it when you go away". I think that's when I realized that it's now a show about a crumbling family. My thoughts on the whole thing? Kate drove Jon to the end of his rope, and he needed out. If you watch the way she spoke to him? It was boarder line abuse. Jon needed to get out. His method was cowardly, but he got out. Since then Kate has become a single mom who resembles Britney Spears...and no one sees this as a bad thing? Not the best role model but I digress. Kate has become infatuated with the spotlight, you hear about her weekly now. Well it's Monday guess who I've already read about today...yup. Kate is apparently going to be on the upcoming season of dancing with the stars! Nothing like cashing in on the destruction of your family. Here is my question right now? How are the kids these days?

Holy Crazy Celebrity feud Batman!

LOL seriously I'm chuckling to myself right now. In this corner Courtney Love, who's relevance died with her husband and the ONE good song Hole released. In the other Lily Allen who's claim to fame is her wardrobe malfunctions and cellulite exposures. Seriously these two stand-up ladies have locked horns from the sounds of it, and Lily Allen is totally trying to downplay it but seriously made is sound far worse than I personally thought it was. And she tried VIA Twitter, because celebrities don't need a manager anymore, just a phone with internet access. She said things like I told her to shut up and stop spreading rumors about me, and I don't pick on crazy old ladies

BURN!

Okay now getting back to being a mature adult, are you SERIOUS?

She should have ended the whole thing at we exchanged words yes, and probably wrapped it up with but it was no where near as escalated as everyone seems to think. There. Done. Clearing the air. Nice. NO! I told her to shut up and stop spreading rumors about me? Then I bet Courtney stole her fruit roll-up and pushed her off the swing. And I don't pick on crazy old ladies? REALLY? I really think Courtney Love has some mad issues, but she could drop kick you into next week honey. And you know what's worse than a crazy OLD lady, a crazy Young one who clearly hasn't peaked yet. Wow it's REALLY bad when I can sit here and gawk at the lack of maturity, because I am by no means mature and growned up.

I don't mean to Brag...buuuuuut....

*knocks on wood* I haven't gotten sick this flu season. Out of the blue right? Well yes and no, my Boyfriend is currently in his second stint. Am I just immune, or did I get the shot? NO. I take precautionary measures, and Yes I'm sharing. It's not really a magic spell or anything, it's pretty basic but it's stuff you might take for granted. I take a Multi Vitamin for one. My Bf only does when he IS sick. Hydration! I'm a freakin camel. You should see how much water I drink in a day. 2liters easy. best way to do this ? Seriously get a big bottle and just leave it beside you, you'll feel compelled to drink... a lot. Excersise. PLEASE DON'T HIT ME. I read this somewhere, and I can't remember why eaxctly, probably because your body is healthier in general when you include activity, so you're body is probably better equiped to fight the germs. Pro Biotic Yogurt, the bacteria apparently fights the other bacteria and there is a bactiria war or something...who knows I'm no doctor, I just know this whole routine has been working. Fruits and Veggies. In my case it tends to be more veggies because I'm weird and allergic to most fruits, the list is actually shorter of the ones I can eat opposed to the ones I can't. Luckly Oranges are on the Can list, and Vitamin C is the next thing. Try and get Garlic into EVERYTHING. That's an easy one for me, but ask Rob, most of the time I smell like a salami from cutting it or grating it. Now in the past when I have gotten sick I've used these same things but tweaked a little. Liquid intake is upped. I drink a glass of OJ one hour, Water the next and chuck in Tea the next, and repeate, and Soup becomes my best friend. I tend to go for a vapo rub and if I'm really sick, tylenol cold or whatever. This part is gross, SPIT. Really, you know that gross flem and stuff, spit it out. Your body is breaking it all up and trying to get rid of it so help the body out, and spit it. And finally rest, If you're getting a cold and you're off in two days, I'd say tough it out until your day off, and plan on spending it in bed. Just resting, avoid TV and te computer because they stimulate your brain, so no, not resting, you could read though... I'm not a doctor, or an expert. I'm simply sharing what's working for me...and well... Ihaven't been sick yet...just sayin...

Changing the way the world looks at....HOTDOGS?!

Well I guess that finding a cure for cancer can go to the back burner because the health system has a much bigger crisis on their hands!!! THE SHAPE OF HOTDOGS!!! Clearly I'M not serious but I came across an article today that has people looking at the shape of a hot dog as a serious health threat. Now typically I would jump to the conclusion that this is just dumb before finding out the reasoning behind this, so I read on. It's because according to a study 10,000 children under the age of 14 are taken to the emergency room every year from choking on food...77 of those children will die...and 17% is due to hot dogs....okay yeah should've gone with my first instinct. In absolutely NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM am I laughing at a child dying from choking on a hot dog, I FULLY understand that is a serious situation. But The fact that it's coming to the point where the manufacturers of hot dogs need to rethink the shape of the product that has been around far longer than I have because kids today are choking on them? I don't think I was any different when I was a kid in comparison to kids today, but lets cover how hot dogs work for young kids. When I was little I'd get my little plate and my dad would slice up my hot dogs into smaller than bite size peices, because lets be honest here the bite isn't the issue, clearly it's the chewing. So I'd have my little hot dog slices sitting on my plate, and a small puddle of ketchup. And I'm still here so I'm gonna say this method is effective...If you make hot dogs any other shape, don't they become bologna?

If I were a celebrity Perez Hilton wouldn't like me...

This is pretty clear to me now. I am a Perez follower but he and I seem to clash with our celebrity preferences. Now if it were just the preferences, I'd think okay yeah we could mesh, but he greatly dislikes celebrities, I tend to relate to. Have You ever seen Knocked up? You know the part where Seth Rogan says he thinks Vince Vaughn would like to hang out with him? Yes I have a couple of those, if you haven't seen my last blog... Today he was kind of brutal on Kristen Stewart. Yup she's one I could see me hanging out with, I've said before I tend to be good friends with girls who are also one of the guys, you can't tell me she's not. Anyway she won an award at the BAFTA's and he ripped into her acceptance speech. As a radio announcer, I could probably do the same but I won't. You know how when you were in High School and you REALLY didn't want to do your presentation in front of the class and when you did it was all awkward and stuff? Yeah that was pretty what her speech was like. I like her but yeah she seemed awkward about doing it. Might have something to do with the fact she was in a dress...that wasn't black! My Prom dress was black, and as soon as I was allowed to put on my jeans, well I was in Jeans...So why am I on about it? Well Perez refered to it as "brutal" and "painful", I thought that was a bit harsh, I chose awkward. not knocking the guy because if I was all offened and stuff I wouldn't follow him online, and I'll likely go to his site as soon as I'm done here. I just know my speech would have been similar to Kristen's. People who are like, why you're on the radio, it's different when you SEE the people listening to you. Anyone who saw my JUST before I did the closing ceremonies for the Pavilion cup, they'll tell you I was nervous.

Chillan WITH a Villain?

Okay so if you don't follow Perez, you probably missed this: http://perezhilton.com/2010-02-19-helena-bonham-carter-is-crazy . Note the title...so I suppose it's not good that I look at this and think, Dude this is a chick I could chill with. When I hang out with my friends, that's what we do say random things and make each other laugh. The way Helena acted on that show? That's a fun time at my house, and I seriously have a Hot Chocolate story too! If she's a little nuts it's cool I know I'm a little out there some times. Also look at the roles she's played, it would've had to rub off at some point or another. Don't worry there Bellatrix, I dig! On another note, I'd like to point out something I learned in school. My Journalism teacher told me that a good interview can be mistaken for two people having a conversation, so well done Craig Ferguson! Now before you make a comment on her outfit keep in mind her other half is Tim Burton, you know girls do wear things to make their dude happy! So Helena, you're a villain in one of my favorite movie/book series of all time, but if you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods we can have a hot chocolate, you bring the marshmallows! Just leave your wand with the dark lord, I don't want to end up like the Longbottoms, or your Cousin.

One of the guys

Okay so I have been "one of the guys" for as long as I can remember. In High School I actually had a guy friend who said one day "Nancy's a GIRL"? I've always had more guy friends than girl friends and the girl friends I did have, are the same way. I'm 23 now, and well I wear dresses and heels from time to time now, Makeup and hair did are a must on a daily basis. BUT while I am more feminine than I once was, I'm still diggin on "guy stuff". A crappy term. I hate that "guy things" and "girl things". I was walking down the street the other night and a dude was wearing a skirt...actually I think it was a kilt, but whatever. That would be a "girl type thing" wouldn't it? I don't get why he wore it to be honest, and not because he's a guy, because it was a freakin cold night. My name is Nancy Wood. I play video games, and read comic books. My favorite thing to wear is jeans with a t-shirt and hoodie, and yes I'll have fries with that. Do I still have my barbie collection? no but I'm pretty sure I still have all my ninja turtle action figures including my 5 foot clan members. I like Rock music, and Simon Pegg movies. I don't leave the toilet seat up, but I leave my towels on the floor. I'd rather go play pool with the guys than go get my nails done with the girls. If I ask an honest question, I don't get mad at an honest answer, mind games suck. I may be one of the guys, but YES I am a girl!

Making up stories

Okay so recently people I went to college with have been getting in touch with me and we've been talking a lot. I love this man it's awesome, but I've recently noticed one in particular has clearly run out of things to talk about. Have you ever had that friend who seems to make up stories when they've run out of things to say. I had a girl who was literally one of my best friends in college tell me a story yesterday. Now because of that her story sounded like something I would've done in my "wild" college days, but I REALLY didn't remember this and I have an amazing long term memory. Anyway she dropped some names of people who were "with us" when this went down. One of these people got a job before grad so we actually drifted away for a point in time. What she doesn't know is recently we've reconnected and talk almost daily. So it probably struck him out of the blue last night when I mentioned this "incident" to him. BTW he doesn't remember either and agreed with me...it's something we'd remember. So while I love her I have come to the conclusion my friend has nothing better to talk about so she's started telling stories...that being said it really was a funny one :P

Valentines Day...

Okay as a Christmas nut I simply do not get why people do the bah humbug deal, when I feel that dark out-look would be better directed at Valentines day. I know what you're thinking, she single right? Wrong, I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years, so why the negative views on Valentines day? Because it basically tells people who are single, that it's not okay. Before I met my boyfriend I had no interest in having a boyfriend, and I spent my valentines day with a girlfriend, who like me didn't want to be tied down by a guy. We had a blast. That is just one of the reasons I dislike it. The other is why do we need a day to tell the person we love we love them? Shouldn't that be an everyday thing?I by no means begrudge the people who do celebrate though. No Ill feelings at all, I just don't celebrate...I don't celebrate Superbowl either, and well a lot of my co-workers did. My plan is to watch No TV until 9pm, just line up all my favorite DVD's and watch them one right after another with a big bowl of popcorn. At 9 is the Sunday night Cartoons, which are awesome!!! To everyone celebrating, please enjoy your day, to everyone who's not...Still enjoy your day!

women and Their purses

Boy Scouts got nothin on a woman and her purse. Seriously ladies we have EVERYTHING in our purses, if it's not in our purse, it's something we haven't needed in the last 2 months. This Blog is prompted by my creeping a friends fb and she took a pic of the contents of her purse. Now I'd be lying if I said I had my purse with me EVERYWHERE I went, but I know I feel far more secure with it. And why not I carry SO much in it. What's in your purse? Well I thought I'd share my contents: Sunglasses, Reading glasses (actually I'm wearing them but that's where they're kept) Lady stuff, hand cream, breath mints, eyedrops, makeup sponge, lip gloss, blistex (yes both), Batteries, hair tie, bobbie pins, safety pins, q-tips, day planner, Tylenol, Pepto bismol tablets, cuticle cream, eyelash curler, comb, eyeliner, concelaer, foundation, brush, camera, nail clippers, a pen, a couple of pay stubs (haunting me because all of that $ is gone), My Keys, a list of things on sale that might intrest me (yeah I watch flyers hardcore to save $) Bandaids, my wallet (still no $) and blotting papers...really need to weigh this thing some time. So ladies, what's in your purse?

Pavilion

Wow um so much for me blogging during the weekend. I was one of 2 places all weekend long, Pavilion cup, or home nursing a sick boyfriend...who didn't want to be nursed...but says he feels much better now...mmhmm. So this year Pavilion was totally big and better than last year! The winning teams were some of the ones who had the most fun which you love to see. All I'll say about how our team fared is...we had fun :P. I know i had a blast watching them. Yesterday I MCed the closing ceremonies and I have no problem telling you this, I was scared out of my wits. Hand me a microphone, no problem, hand me a microphone and stick me in front of a whole bunch of people who are looking at me, different story. I got through it though and I think I only messed up twice...but whose counting? Anyway I'll be posting pics on the fb page in the next day or two, my comp was glitching and not letting me upload earlier so I'll have to try again. Thanks again to everyone who came out to Pavilion cup this weekend, now they can start planning for next year! :P

PAVILION CUP!!!

I am sooo freakin pumped. Seriously, I can't wait for tomorrow. Yes Pavilion Cup kicks off today but I can't make it until tomorrow morning. What's kind of sad is I'm THIS excited...I'm not on the Pond Jockeys, and have been skating once ever, and I was 3...and for like the last part I was sitting on a chair while my mom pushed me around the ice...Anyway...As far as I'm concerned my blog is no place for "Advertising" But if and event is coming up that I plan on being at, or I'm really excited for, yeah you'll see it here. I actually started talking about Pavilion to people before Christmas. Anyway I'm heading out tomorrow morning @ about 10am (I'm walking) with my Boyfriend and my friend Laura. We'll be meeting up with our receptionist Michelle, we'll all be sporting K100 Jerseys and we'll be the Pond Jockey Cheerleaders ( Not sure how happy my bf would be about being refered to as a cheerleader)! You know when your work place has a big get together and the people you really like, but don't always get a chance to say hi to are there? Yeah that's what it's gonna be for us, and on top of it TONS of stuff happening. Hope to see everyone out there! It's gonna be a blast, and all for a great cause!

PS I'm hoping to get a couple of blogs in tomorrow too, I'll post them on FB so hopefully I can keep you up on what's going on here, I know Steph will be playing hockey so not to worry Steph, I'll do my best to cover it :P

Why Rob makes me laugh

Well here @ K100 we all do a little more work than what you guys catch on the air. There is a bunch of work that goes into our shows, sometimes we need to get out and do stuff around town, our live on locations, by the end of the day we can be pretty tired. Now Rob Weir our Midday announcer, he's also our producer and he sets everything up for those live on locations. Rob is a pretty humble, and anyone who has met him can probably tell you, Rob is really one of the nicest guys you can ever meet. Well Rob was out setting a live on location up today, and came back smiling, telling us how nice the people were there where he was setting up, and very accommodating. Well I was saying well that's nice, Rob quietly mentioned...she listens to the 90's at noon. At which point loud and boisterous me, I laughed and said OOOHHH so she was a fan. Rob kinda smiled a little and that ended the conversation. And this is one of the many reasons why Rob makes me laugh. I felt the need to share this because well I think it's a cute story and I think everyone should know just how hard this guy works!

If you saw on FB...

In case you saw my status on FB...the proud thing? it's like this. I did the New Years Resolution to, eat healthier and lose weight. Well I kicked the whole thing off about a month ago, I tracked what I ate so I was fully aware of...well the crap I was putting in my body and made some adjustments. I also have been forcing myself (and at times it has required force) to exercise AT LEAST 3 times a week. I was weighing in and seeing slight differences. Well tomorrow marks the offical 1 month point, this is where I saw a dramatic difference. I have lost 10lbs, and am very proud. So this is me sharing why I am absolutely pumped today! :)

Caffeine consumers!!!

And I mean consume in the sense you consume it and not purchase it...though I'd likely be talking to the same person. So my typical day has me getting up at about 9, and the very first thing I do is make my morning coffee. Now by the time 4 ot 5 rolls around I'm feeling like really tired, my coffee buzz is gone, and that doesn't work when your show starts @4. I've recently added more caffeine later in the day at about my dropping point. Then when I get home I usually grab a tea (less caffeine) to keep me going so I can clean or work out or do something more productive than playing my sims game until I can't keep my eyes open anymore. So I'm looking at on a typical day 3 caffeine fixes! Not really a good thing! Well the other morning I was watching Rachel Ray (yes I love her show) and it was their big Good house keeping show. I guess Good House Keeping has been around for well over 100 years. Anyway they were "sharing their secrets" and one definitely called out to me, a caffeine addict. Good House keeping apparently suggests that instead of having your morning coffee have the same amount but in like 2oz servings. So basically do shots of coffee. Makes sense right? Well I'll see how well this one will work for me!

Saint John Animal Rescue League

I REALLY think the ARL is an awesome set up. I almost got a dog from them in the Summer ( broke my heart when we decided against it, but it was the right choice to make looking back and the dog was adopted quickly,he has one of those tutorial stories on their site). I check back to their site A LOT, I'm not really sure why I'm in no position to get another pet right now( I have 2 guinea pigs that take up my time, and I'm @ the station for about 9 hours a day...not really fair to a pet, my 2 pigs have eachother at least) recently I was looking at their site sayin wow look how low those numbers are as far as pets needing homes are...it's gone up. On that note if you're looking for a pet please look into adopting from the Animal rescue league, they are great and work with the Animals and can tell you so much about them. Right now it looks like they've got some great fits for a lot of people. They have a pretty low # of dogs right now which is wonderful, but there are still some there, if you're more of cat person they have quite a few beautiful cats there that you could probably mesh with. If you're in a position that a smaller animal might be a better fit, the 3 is actually pretty high right now, a bunch of bunnies! Thanks for taking the time to have a look at what I had to say :)

Youtube addiction!!!!

Hi my name is Nancy and I'm a Youtube junkie...

YOU know I'm not the only one. How many times has some one e-mailed you a video, posted it on your facebook page, or even just said DUDE you have to see this video? Probably more than you can actually count right? I think you know you have a problem when you start subscribing. Well I'm well past that point by now. I do have a favorite subscription that I'm hoping to share at some point with you. I really I love this guy and I actually have spent hours with friends watching his videos. Now I'm not mentioning his name, or the chanel or anything like that because I am waiting for the green light right now. What I'd like to do is post the link ion a regular basis. If I were doing this once or twice I'd just say whatever and post it, but I really want to push these vids, I really think they're that good, so I e-mailed this guy like 5 min ago and asked if that was cool with him. Yes public forum I get it but I just don't want to be a total lamer like that. Now he posts his vids twice a week. If I was smart I would have messaged him yesterday. I know he checks fan e-mails on the days he releases new videos and he has one coming out tonight. So like I said, just sent it...so I may end up waiting until the next release date. That wouldn't be aweful becuase then I could post the first one on like Monday. The next few days are just going to be nuts with Pavilion cup coming, like crazy fun, but also really busy. So basically I just wanted to tell you I'm hoping to share these vids with you...keep your fingers crossed for me!

The Gambler

You gotta know when to hold em...know when to fold em.

Just got off the phone with one of my regular listeners, this girl I talk to her a couple nights a week, she has been to the station and we met, the whole deal. We'll call her Mrs. Lautner (She'd love that). Well Mrs. Lautner is an Ellen Degeneris (doubt I spelled that right) fan. I guess Ellen has decided to cut out her added sugar. Well Mrs. Lautner has decided to follow suit for 4 months . Now Mrs. Lautner's mom, we'll caller Taylor's Mother in-law, doesn't so much expect her to make it. See Mrs. Lautner is a big ketchup user, and well look at the label folks. So Mrs. Lautner, and Taylor's Mother in-law have placed a bet. If Mrs. Lautner makes it, she doesn't have to do laundry or something? I think that's what she said, but if she doesn't she's lookin at double duty. Good luck Mrs. Lautner...double laundry sucks dude!

Ground Hog day

Okay so today has been another Groundhog day...guess what...he saw his shadow! I hate to be a total pessimist here but I think I might be more shocked if he didn't. I don't remember a time when I didn't hear another 6 weeks of Winter. To be honest though, what do we have to complain about, knock on wood, we've had a pretty good Winter thus far. I think last year this time I'd already worn a co-workers coffee when he slipped on the ice. I don't dislike Ground Hog day, look at that thing, it's too cute, If I wake up tomorrow and have to relive today a couple times...might be a different story...

Potter Heads!

Hey Potter Fans, were you planning on watching the Superbowl this weekend?
Yeah me neither...until now. Universal has shelled out the ridiculously
large sum of cash required (this year 3mil I believe) to air the first
ever comercial for the upcoming Harry Potter theme park during the Superbowl. I'm not a
football fan, so I ...think the screen... in screen function on my tv may be used on my TV this Sunday so I don't miss the commercials this year!

My First Blog

Okay. I've heard about Blogging for a few years now, and I'm jumping on the bandwagon. Easy to get swept up in all the hype when one of your co-workers posts some great stuff all the time ( yes Steph I blame you...peer pressure :P). Anyway here it is I give in...this blog is my first so yeah it sucks.
